It is after a long period of waiting that a Church centre is coming up in the said land situated at a prime location in Kottayam town (just 200 meters from the kanjikuzhy junction in Eranjal road and 1.5 km from the district Collectorate).

The land measuring about 2.75 acres was purchased by a few Jacobite Syrian Christian faithful way back in 1979 and registered in the name of a trust called ‘Syrian Orthodox Christian Association’ with the aim of establishing a church here. It was the late lamented Catholicos Mor Baselios Paulose II of blessed memory who was the founder President of the Association. However since a church (the St. Joseph’s Cathedral) was established in a few years time in the very heart of the Kottayam town under the initiative of late Dr. Mor Gregorios Perumpilly, this land remained as it is.

In the last 10 years time the present diocesan Metropolitan Mor Themotheos made several attempts to develop the land, but not much progress happened until a recent High Court ruling which granted permission to develop the land, following which the Kottayam municipal council had to issue necessary sanctions. The building which is coming up here occupies just about 40 cents of land and the remaining 2.35 acres of land will be utilized efficiently and productively.
